To Iraq

I just dropped off my parent to the airport yesterday. They're going to Iraq for vacation. Can you beleive it? Iraq!! I was reading news about Iraq on google new. Hope they'll come back home ok... At least they don't look like Americans so they should have lower chance of been targetted.

Catch the Sprit

On Saturday, my company host Catch the Sprit pitch and putt at Queen Elizabeth Park Pitch and Putt. Chris and I went to driving range to practice my swing a day before but somehow I started have left hook to it. What's odd is that I never had left hook and suddenly I started to have it. At end of my driving range, I was some what able to fix it.

I never played on Queen Elizabeth Park course, so I was excited to try out the different course. Average, I say the course was 65 yards long. The shortest was 45 and the longest was 110. The first half of the game, I did horribly but was able to improve during the last half. Despite my horrible performance, my team became 2nd least sores and we all get to pick the prizes. We all picked flash light as there was nothing better to pick other than that...

During this game, I came to realize that I need to improve more in putting and approach to the green (I had good idea but I didn't think I would perform this poorly....).

Turn out of this event ended poorly as 40 something people signed up and only may be 20 at most showed up. I was more disappointed with my GAP account as only 4 people, including me, showed up for the pitch and putt and there is about 20 of us in GAP. People actually pass on free game and free food? Oh yes, we all went to Penny Lanes pub on 41st and Main. Pre-selected food was on the company's tab but drinks were not. My manager and a couple co-workers kept buying us drinks so a couple of my co-workers are pretty drunk at end as we stayed until 5pm. I knew I had to drive home so I didn't drink that much so I was ok at end. One guy told me he had to sleep in the car before getting back home.

Bump Key

As I was going through TechEBlog to kill some time during my off the call times, came arross this interesting article. Bump key. Apparently it can unlock all the locks with same key shape. From what I saw on the video, looks pretty easy to make. For people who's interested and has 5 min to kill, click here.

Back from vacation

Now Chris, Cindy and I are back from vacation from LA, back to our daily routine. Since Chris already put up the high light of our trip, no need to repeat that in my blog ;-).

A couple points I noticed the difference between LA and Vancouver:

  • People use more smart phones (PDA/cell phone)
  • People use more Bluetooth headsets
  • Cars are more damaged and drive with unpainted hoods and body panels
  • Cars without any license plates

I was not expecting to see Honda Asio in live action in Disney Land, so that was a nice surprise. I thought it can walk much faster than only 1mph.... Common Honda, I know you can do better than that :-).

My PDA, Axim x50v, was really handy during this trip. Reading the directions, taking a look at map of LA, connecting to wireless interent, and palying game to kill some time at the airport and in the plane. It sure beats carrying around big bulky laptop ;-).
