Weekend in Toronto

My initial plan for Toronto weekend was that my friends were driving up form Ottawa to hung out but that changed to me going down to Ottawa to meet up with them. Any finally that changed to no one going any where so due to busy Christmas season. So I was stuck in Toronto but I took this opportunity to explore the city.

Saturday:
My old roommate, Steve, recommended me to go to Royal Ontario Museum, China town, Little and Italy and they're all within walking distance from my hotel.

I was walking down Yonge St and just across Eaton Center, there was a big crowd of people protesting about environment. It was windy and cold so I quickly went inside the mall to warm up and couldn't stay to hear what they had to say. About 15 min from Eaton Center, I found the museum. It looks like a big crystal growing on the building. And the name explains everything: The Crystal. Wow can people be more creative :-).

Exhibits consists of world culture that focused heavily on China, Egypt, Japan, and Korea. Some of the samurai era Japanese accessories and paintings would go really well in my place but they look expensive....

I tried to take some pics on the exhibits but lucky me, my camera died on me.... So no pics of the museum for you guys.

I had congee and BBQ port recommended by Steve for a late lunch. I reseted my fatigue legs in the restaurant where customer service was almost non existence (but food was excellent) and think back of time when Billy and I walked in downtown Toronto a couple years ago. Walking down College St, University St, and Yonge St brought back the memories.

Because it's winter and day is so short, it was getting dark and cold, I decided to head back hotel and skip Little Italy.

Sunday:
One of my good friend from Vancouver office also happened to be in Toronto and she asked me to join the tour of Greater Toronto Area hosted by her friend. Since I had no plan for Sunday and plus it was snowing, I joined them to see outside downtown.

Noticed a lot of the houses are more Victorian style and uses bricks and stones. Even many of the newer houses still use bricks and stones. I wonder if it's due to harsher weather or because materials are cheaper in East Coast?

Another Trip To Toronto

This time, I'm covering for my supervisor's absence while he travels to China.

Flight on Sunday to Toronto was horrible as my original flight got canceled due to heavy snow. Upon calling AirCanada, they already put me on another flight that depart at noon. That day must be my lucky day because the second flight was delayed for an hour and a half due to crappy winter weather. And to top off these events, audio for the movie are out for our seats. When a flight attendant tried to reboot the system to fix it, it only knocked off other seat leaving audio less during the flight. Not having audio didn't bother me too much as I always sleep in the plane.

I checked in 1 King West Suite Hotel at 10 PM EST and I woke up at 6:30 AM PST. So my Sunday was wasted waiting and sitting around... Oh well, that's life I guess.

P.S.
Weather here sucks also but I saw +7 in Vancouver and -11 in Toronto on the weather forecast. That's pretty big temperature difference.
